Getting a Wisconsin ID Card
You can get a Wisconsin ID card if you:
- Do not have a valid driver license
- Are a resident of Wisconsin
If you have never had a Wisconsin driver license or ID card or if you are renewing your ID card and want a REAL ID-compliant card for the first time you can get this through the Wisconsin DOT Department of Motor Vehicles.
Present acceptable proof of:
- Name and date of birth English
- Legal presence English
- Identity English
- Wisconsin residency English
- Social Security Number

Obtaining a FREE Wisconsin ID Card for Voting
If you are a US citizen, will be at least 18 years of age by the next election and would like a Wisconsin ID card to vote (although it's not currently required), please check the ID for FREE when completing the MV3004 Wisconsin ID application or when applying online. Otherwise, you will be required to pay the processing fee.
